Engagement Photo Ideas...

I love looking at unusual engagement photos! Here are some great ideas using images by Canadian wedding photographer Claire Cocheme:

1. In the Rain: While rain may be completely unwelcome on your wedding day, engagement photos in the rain can be spectacular. Play with movement, light and colorful umbrellas.

2. On a Bridge: What a fun way to play around with distance and architecture!

3. In a Field: One with vibrant colors makes for spectacular pictures.

4. In the Street: Make use of humorous signs like this one, which says “One Way”.

5. Under a Streetlamp: This photo is a beautiful vertical shot. The effect of light is still there, even in the daytime.

6. In a Phone Booth: Phone booths are a thing of the past, but if you can find one, their small spaces force closeness and can make for a romantic shot.

7. In a Bakery: Shoot your engagement photos in your favorite bakery. There are so many wonderful pictures that can come from using colorful icing, display windows, and sweet treats as props.

All of these ideas are free of cost; be creative and speak with your photographer. Chances are they will have some great ideas on what will be the most unique!

How to choose your wedding's color scheme...

A very exciting part of planning your wedding is choosing your color scheme. There are so many beautiful color combinations, so how do you know which one is right for you? The colors you choose will set the tone for your entire event; so much consideration needs to be given in making this decision. Popular wedding color choices are always changing, but later in this article I will touch on most popular color choices for 2010.

Obviously, when trying to decide on a color scheme for your wedding you should first consider colors that you love. Your wedding should be a reflection of your tastes and your distinct style so choosing colors that you love will automatically start you off in the right direction. However, there are other tips and strategies for making the most of your wedding color scheme.

First, I strongly recommend taking into consideration the venue you have chosen for your ceremony and reception. Consider the scenery that is already present. Look at the carpeting, décor, walls, etc. for ideas about what will coordinate well with the colors you love.

Second, think about the mood and the atmosphere that you want to create. If your style is bold then I suggest colors that are also bold and vibrant. If you are a timeless romantic, softer colors set the mood for romance. Traditional wedding colors also work well to create romance.

Third, you may also want to consider the season in which you plan to marry. Spring and summer weddings tend to have lighter colors while fall and winter weddings tend to lean more toward the darker shades.
Each year brings new trends, and there are new and exciting colors and combinations for 2010. The hot color choices for this year are all bright....Forget about pastels. And black is the new black; forget about chocolate brown! Good luck choosing:)

Perfect Venue Suiting Your Personality....

Picking a wedding venue can be one of the most important parts of the wedding planning soiree! Where you entertain your guests says alot about who you and your husband are as a couple.

Pick a rustic old barn for your reception; This can make your guests feel like they're right at home as they could kick off their shoes for a toe stomping good time.

Fancy Country Club; this gives the impression that impressions mean alot and you don't mind spending the cash. Guests will tend to feel as if they are in a more formal setting.

Outside venue; Risktaker, of course b/c you never know what the weather is going to be like. This might show a couple that is fearless and and also loving the simplicity of the outdoors.

Whatever category you and your hubby might fall into just remember to personalize, personalize, personalize. That's the key to making every wedding your OWN!

Dates to AVOID when planning your wedding!

When many couples choose their wedding dates, they think about weather, convenience, or having it coincide with another special occasion (such as the anniversary of their first date.) But before you pay non-refundable deposits, or send out save-the-dates, avoid disaster by making sure your wedding doesn't fall on one of these dates
Sports:
The Super Bowl-February 7, 2010
The World Series- Mid to Late October.
The World Cup Only held once every four years. The next will be held from June 11, 2010 to July 11, 2010.
Final Four/March Madness - April 3 and 5, 2010

Religious and Cultural Holidays:

If you're getting married in a house of worship, they probably won't let you get married on an important holiday. But you'll also want to be sensitive to the religious observances of your guests. Even if they are able to attend, they might be fasting, eating a restricted diet, or have other limitations that will prevent them from fully enjoying your wedding.
12th Night and Epiphany- Always January 6th

Miscellaneous Wedding Dates to Avoid:

Daylight savings time -If you're having a Sunday wedding on daylight savings weekend, will your guests remember to change their watches and get to the wedding on time? It is more of a problem in the spring (when the US springs forward) than in the fall (falls back) as its better for guests to be an hour early than an hour late.

Spring Forward Sunday- March 14, 2010
Fall Back-November 7, 2010
Friday the 13th- It is perhaps a silly superstition. But if you care about such things, or just don't want to risk it, avoid having your rehearsal dinner or wedding on Friday the 13th.
Friday, August 13, 2010
April Fool's Day- You don't really need to encourage your guests to play tricks on you, do you? Thursday, April 1, 2010
